UPDATE – A sign has now appeared outside the Pop Eats stand saying “Figment Popcorn Bucket Currently Unavailable”. We are unsure whether this will be restocked.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicked off on Friday January 14, 2021 and it wasn’t the amazing array of cuisine or performers there is on offer that got guests fired up, it was popcorn… yes popcorn!
To celebrate the opening of the Festival, Disney released the new Figment Popcorn bucket. Guests waited in line for hours to get their hands on this new piece of merchandise which retails at $25. Some reports online state that lines got to over six hours at times.
The original Journey Into Imagination attraction which opened in 1983 was always a fan favorite but when it reopened after a refurbishment in 1999 due to sponsorship issues with Kodak it never had the same appeal. As a result the attraction was closed and then reopened in 2002 as Journey Into Imagination with Figment.
Current guests at EPCOT certainly seem excited by Figment when it comes to merchandise. The popcorn bucket is already appearing on Ebay for anywhere up to $200! As it is a limited edition item it seems like the long lines at the Pop Eats stand near Port of Entry are likely to continue whilst stock lasts.
Due to the insanely long lines at the Pop Eats location because of the Figment popcorn merchandise it has proven annoying for some guests wanting to purchase other offerings from this stand.
