Fear Factor Live, a live stunt performance show, first opened to guests in June of 2005 in the San Francisco area of Universal Studios Florida and later moved to the World Expo area in 2013. It opened to mixed reviews with frequent complaints of lack of stunt variety.
Fear Factor Live changed very little during its time in operation, making for a rather repetitive show for frequent attendees. Although it was not a big ticket attraction of Universal Studios Florida, it offered an action-packed show for guests to enjoy before venturing back out into the Orlando heat.
In October of last year, however, Universal Studios Orlando confirmed that the Fear Factor Live show would not be returning to regular operations after the end of Halloween Horror Nights. The now-vacant area opens up lots of expansion opportunities for nearby attractions. Because of the large space now readily available for the park to overhaul, fans have speculated about possible additions to the park.
The most notable of these rumors is the possibility of an expansion to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Due to Fear Factor’s close proximity to Diagon Alley, this would be an ideal location for the long-rumored Ministry of Magic to be incorporated into the park and would help cut crowds in the tightly packed main street of Diagon Alley. A Harry Potter VR attraction has been a possible addition to Universal’s roster since the announcement of Epic Universe.
Originally it was thought the rumored ride would be a staple of the new Epic Universe park, but due to construction delays from the pandemic, park officials may have decided to change their approach and place it in one of the existing parks instead. After the success of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure on the Islands side, Universal Studios Florida is short a Harry Potter themed attraction. Currently, only hosting Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and the park-hopping Hogwarts Express.
What do you think would be the perfect attraction to replace Fear Factor Live at Universal Studios Florida? Would the Ministry of Magic be top of your list? Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
