Weekend Chaperone System Now In Place For Under 18s At Universal CityWalk

Universal has recently announced that all under 18s must depart Universal CityWalk by 9PM at the weekends unless they are accompanied by a parent/guardian over the age of 21. The exception to this is for guests that are staying at a Universal Orlando Resort Hotel who can show their room key card or those with a ticket to the Universal Cinemark theater who will be escorted directly to the theater.

This new policy has been put in place after fighting broke out between teenagers in Universal CityWalk and the parking lot last month. After 9PM anyone aged under 18 found inside CityWalk on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening without a chaperone aged 21+ will be escorted straight out.

This policy is said to be under review so we could see this being extended for weekdays as well if it proves successful.

We are currently unsure how this will affect guests visiting Halloween Horror Nights which begins September 2, where groups of under 18s will often visit the event together without adult supervision. We assume the policy will remain in place meaning there is likely going to be some very frustrated and angry teenagers.
