Walt Disney World Begins Extending Park Hours in Anticipation of Heavy Spring Break Crowds

Magic Kingdom castle, Disney

One of the busiest times of the year at Walt Disney World has been the Spring Break holidays which kick off in March and last through the month of April. And though capacity caps will still be in place this year, it looks like the resort is still expecting to see big crowds in 2021, with all four parks extending hours beginning in March, with the following changes taking place on select dates beginning next month:

  • Magic Kingdom: Closings pushed back to between 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM from 7:00 PM
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Closings pushed back to 8:00 PM
  • EPCOT: Closings pushed back to between 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM from 7:00 PM
  • Animal Kingdom: Opening earlier at 8:00 AM Closings pushed back to between 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Though there are no fireworks shows currently being performed, permits were recently files that seem to indicate that Fantasmic! could be coming back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the near future, in addition to other shows that are rumored to be returning to this park soon as well. You can learn more about this here

Right now the only park with confirmed nighttime entertainment is Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which has been displaying the Tree of Life: Awakenings projection show on days when the park is open after dark.

As we get closer to the spring break holidays, we expect even more park hours extensions through the end of March and in April as well. For the most up to date information on theme park openings, you can check out the official park calendar here
