VelociCoaster begins Technical Rehearsal Soft Opening

Now that Universal Orlando Resort Team Members and Annual Passholders have been able to have their exclusive previews of the brand new Jurassic World: VelociCoaster attraction at Islands of Adventure, it looks like Universal is now letting regular day guests in on the preview fun, and has now begun technical rehearsals (or “soft openings”) at the park.

During these soft openings, the ride will run intermittently throughout the day, with no advance warning or notification, if at all. Guests who want to try and get a sneak peek at this attraction before its June 10th opening can hang out in the Jurassic Park area of Islands of Adventure to keep an eye on the entrance, and can also monitor the official Universal Orlando Resort app for updates during this soft opening period. Express passes are not available for this attraction during the soft opening period.

When it opens, Jurassic World: VelociCoaster will be Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster, giving guests the chance to soar 155 feet in the air and catapult up to 70 mph alongside a ferocious Velociraptor pack. This thrilling new ride features 4,700 feet of track, and includes near-misses, a barrel roll right above the Islands of Adventure lagoon, high-speed launches – the fastest reaching 70 mph in 2.4 seconds – and the signature “Top Hat,” which propels riders 155 feet in the air and then immediately into an 80-degree drop – Universal’s steepest drop yet

The original cast from the movies including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong will be in their roles in the attraction as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing and Dr. Henry Wu as guests experience an extreme adventure through Jurassic World’s newest “carnivore expansion which will bring them through the raptor paddock and beyond with the films’ Velociraptor pack: Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo.”
