Universal’s Volcano Bay to Close Next Month Until Spring 2021

Universal Orlando Resort has announced that Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Park, which previously operated year round, will be closing on November 2, 2020 due to anticipated lower demand during the coming winter months. Though there is no reopening date set in stone yet, operations are expected to resume in Spring 2021, potentially on or around March 1st.

This latest announcement comes on the heels of last month’s announcement that the park would only be operating on a reduced five-day schedule, with the park closed to guests on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But with attendance expected to plummet this winter, it’s no surprise that Universal is choosing to close Volcano Bay down for the next few months, especially as neighbor Walt Disney World has also announced that their water parks will be closed until at least March, with the plan currently being to reopen at least one water park on March 7, 2021.

Of course, these March reopening dates are a long way in the future and Disney and Universal may adjust their proposed reopening dates as situations change. But as always, as soon as we hear more, we’ll keep you posted. Are you sad that Universal Orlando Resort is closing Volcano Bay down for the season? Let us know what you think!
