We reported on January 12, that due to an Emergency Temporary Standard through the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Universal Orlando Resort had updated their COVID-19 policies for Team Members meaning those Team Members that hadn’t attested to their vaccination status or who were unvaccinated by February 9, would have to undertake weekly testing.
Now, with the U.S. Supreme Court disposing of the vaccination mandate, Universal has revoked its vaccination and testing policy which was due to begin on February 9.
Universal Orlando Resort will no longer insist on weekly testing for those that are unvaccinated or have not attested to their vaccination status. Universal are still encouraging their Team Members to get vaccinated and are offering them pay if they have to miss work due to side effects of the vaccine. This policy is set to run until April 9, 2022.
Currently guests do not have to show proof of vaccination status and must wear masks in all indoor spaces throughout the Universal Orlando Resort. You can keep up to date with the latest safety guidelines for guests at Universal Orlando resort here.
It leaves us to wonder that with this relaxing of measures in regards to vaccinations whether we may see masks being made “only recommended” in indoor spaces again soon. We will have to wait and see what the CDC issues as guidelines especially at a time when COVID-19 cases are still very high in Florida.
