As of this morning there have been several changes at Universal Orlando Resort, which is rolling back several of the COVID-19 safety policies that were enacted last summer. First up is mandatory temperature checks, which have been completely removed as of this morning, and are no longer given to guests or team members entering the resort. In addition, physical distancing markers have been shortened from six feet to three feet, allowing more room in queues for guests. Here is an official statement from Universal about the change:
Based on guidance from government and local health officials, as of Thursday, May 6, we are implementing three feet of social distancing throughout our destination and are no longer conducting temperature checks. All other existing health and safety protocols will remain in place.
In addition to these two announced changes, Universal surprised guests this morning by bringing back the single rider line on several attractions, as they are no longer leaving empty seats between parties. This will undoubtedly be an important policy change as we inch closer to the June 10th opening of the VelociCoaster, which is sure to see multi-hour waits as guests clamor to experience this new attraction.
Though these are definitely some big changes for Universal Orlando Resort theme park doesn’t seem have plans to make amendments to its other COVID-19 safety precautions just yet, including capacity caps and the current mask mandate.
