There are many things to consider when planning a trip to Walt Disney World while pregnant. Walt Disney World is probably the most “pregnant-friendly” theme park one can attend. Here is our guide to visiting Walt Disney World when pregnant.
First, it must be noted that anyone who is traveling to Walt Disney World while pregnant should consult their doctor on what is appropriate for them. Always go by doctors’ recommendations before what might be stated in this article.
Know What Rides Are Typically Safe
There are several rides at Walt Disney World that are typically considered to be safe for pregnant riders. These are going to be the rides with no height requirement.
At Magic Kingdom rides with no height requirement include Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world”, Jungle Cruise, Mad Tea Party, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, and Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid. All these rides are relatively tame.
In Epcot, Frozen Ever After, Gran Fiesta Tour, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Spaceship Earth are typically safe for pregnant people.
In Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Na’vi River Journey, and TriceraTop Spin are all on the no height requirement list. However, it should be considered that Kilimanjaro Safaris can get quite bumpy, therefore caution should be exercised before riding.
In Hollywood Studios, the only ride without a height requirement is Toy Story Mania.
Take Breaks in Quick Service Dining Locations or Shows
There are many great quick-service dining locations at each of the parks that have a decent bit of indoor seating. These locations are great for rehydration and refueling with an air-conditioned break, and do not require any advance dining reservations. If you are visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, check out ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, PizzeRizzo, or Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. At Magic Kingdom Pinocchio’s Village Haus, Pecos Bill’s, Columbia Harbor House, and Cosmic Ray’s all have a large amount of indoor seating. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can find relief from the heat at Satu’li Canteen, Pizzafari, and Restaurantosarus. EPCOT has many indoor quick service locations, however some of the locations with the most indoor seating are Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the American Adventure pavilion, Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavilion, and Sommerfest in the Germany pavilion.
There are also several incredible shows to enjoy while giving those feet a rest. At Magic Kingdom, look out for Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, or Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. At Epcot, check out any of the shows in the pavilions throughout the World Showcase. At Animal Kingdom, you may want to check out A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King, It’s Tough to be a Bug, or Animal Encounters: Winged Encounters – The Kingdom Takes Flight. Finally, at Hollywood Studios MuppetVision 3D, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-a-Long Celebration, and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage are all fun shows to see.
Know Where Great Beverages Are
Walt Disney World has some great non-alcoholic options if you are joining other guests who do plan to indulge in some adult beverage consumption.
First, at Hollywood Studios we head to Galaxy’s Edge for a few tasty beverages. You may want to try either the Green or Blue Milk in Galaxy’s Edge. They are both plant based and made with rice and coconut milk. Blue Milk is flavored with dragon fruit, pineapple, lime, and watermelon, while the Green Milk is flavored with mandarin orange, passion fruit, grapefruit, and orange blossom. Finally, if your party will be heading to Oga’s Cantina for a drink or two, there are seven different non-alcoholic concoctions that you can try, but personally I recommend the Hyperdrive (Punch It!) made with Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, White Cranberry Juice, Black Cherry Purée, and Sprite.
If you are a fan of a sweet slush, you may want to try LeFou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern at Magic Kingdom. This drink is made with frozen apple juice flavored with toasted marshmallow and topped with mango foam.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has some unique beverage to try as well. You do not want to miss out of the Night Blossom from Pongu Pongu. This frozen beverage is made with pear limeade and apple, topped with passion fruit Boba balls. Another great frozen beverage is the Frozen Flamingo at Harambe Market. This sweet drink includes flavors of passionfruit and strawberry. Finally, if you will be heading to Nomad Lounge, they have several non-alcoholic options, but you may want to try the Zingiber Fizzie made with passion fruit purée, simple syrup, lime, mint and ginger beer.
Last, we head to EPCOT. The first pick for a greats non-alcoholic option includes The American Dream found at Fife & Drum Tavern. The American Dream includes frozen Fanta Strawberry, vanilla ice cream and frozen Fanta blue raspberry. In the Mexico pavilion, Choza De Margarita offers many delicious margaritas, however they also have a specialty non-alcoholic beverage called the Conga. It is a Mexican fruit punch made from orange, pineapple, and lemon juice. At Coral Reef and many other locations throughout Walt Disney World you’ll find the EARidescent Sip-a-bration beverage made with lemonade and strawberry punch, served in a souvenir 50th Celebration Cup with a dissolvable character that will turn your beverage a shimmery color.
