Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Universal Orlando took the difficult decision at the end of July to cancel its extremely popular Halloween Horror Nights event in 2020. In recent years Universal has constructed a special “Tribute” store, with photo-ops and Halloween Horror Nights merchandise in the New York area of the Universal Studios Florida.
Although the Halloween Horror Nights event has been cancelled, eagle-eyed park-goers spotted the familiar pop-up structure being erected in July and this shop officially opened at the end of July.
The store has been expanding over the last month since it opened and includes rooms celebrating Halloween Horror Nights iconic characters including Jack the Clown and other famous Universal monsters. On Friday August 21, two final rooms have been added to this expanded store.
Beetlejuice is now haunting the store. Guests can experience a fully immersive room with intricate theming and decor including the Graveyard and Stairwell from the film. Once you have finished with the thrills of Beetlejuice your stomach will be ready to try out a selection of sweet and savory halloween treats, including Gummy Beating Heart, Halloween Confetti Cake, Vegan Brownie Skull and many more scary delights.
With a report this week showing that Universal is recovering faster than Disney from COVID-19 attendance woes, it is good news for Universal and hopefully with them cutting tcket prices for several dates with a new variable ticket pricing policy as well as offering special deals let’s hope that they can get back on track as soon as they can, with increased attendance in the fall and heading into 2021.
If you are heading to Universal Studios, let us know what you think of the new rooms added to The Halloween Horror Nights Store by leaving a comment below or on our Facebook Page.
