With rumors at the beginning of October that TRON Lightcycle / Run may be pushed back until 2022 due to budget cuts, it left Walt Disney World fans somewhat deflated. Originally this attraction was set to be one of the centrepieces of The Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2021.
This must anticipated attraction allows guests to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles and go on a high-speed adventure through Tron’s high-tech universe. Disney fans have very high hopes that this will be a truly thrilling addition to The Magic Kingdom as it has proven to be one of the most popular attractions at Shanghai Disneyland.
We have been keeping you up to date with a number of photo updates being posted online over the last few months and the progress being made has been really positive to see. The impressive canopy is being constructed and temporary supports are in place to hold this structure up until it is fully erected. Cranes are positioned all over the site and we are assuming work is still progressing inside the vast show building.
Orlando Experience has posted a video which is embedded below. The scope for this attraction is immense with its twisting and turning track as it emerges from the gigantic show building. The track is being protected by orange covers to protect it as the canopy is being constructed and the remainder of the track also appears to be covered in white presumably to protect it from the elements until the time comes for the attraction to open.
Although construction appears to be slowing slightly compared to recent months we are hoping that TRON Lightcycle / Run may debut as originally planned in 2021.
