TRON Lightcycle/ Run Canopy Nearly Complete at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

With construction work pushing ahead over the last few months on TRON Lightcycle/ Run at Disney’s Magic Kingdom there has been excitement around a potential 2021 opening date for this highly anticipated attraction.

It was unfortunately reported from a number of sources, albeit not officially, back in August that this attraction may miss its originally proposed 2021 opening date and may be postponed until 2022 when crowds are expected to be higher.

Despite this, construction work is continuing and we assume Disney will aim to get the attraction water tight and in a position that it can be left for however many months needed without it sustaining any damage.

Thecoasterkings.com have posted a photo update from earlier this week which includes numerous photos showing the progress being made on the impressive canopy and reports that this structure is now half complete. The remainder of the structure is laid out to the side of the attraction and should be put into place in the next few days.

The front of the rides show building is now enclosed and you can see the launch track clearly which runs directly below the ride’s entrance. From the photos you can see that the track has been wrapped in orange plastic covers to protect it as the canopy is being put into place. It is expected that the whole track will be wrapped to ensure it is kept in tip top condition until Disney is ready to open this ride.
