Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover Refurbishment Extended Again

One of the attractions that did not open with Walt Disney World when it reopened in July 2020 was the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. However, unlike other attractions like Primeval Whirl and Rivers of Light, which are now closed forever, this attraction is expected to reopen at some point, and Disney has been incrementally extending the refurbishment calendar on its website every few months extending the refurbishment over and over. And now it looks like the refurbishment timetable has been updated yet again with the ride now officially closed through April 3rd, 2021.

Unfortunately rumors are starting to swirl that there is something seriously wrong with this attraction, due to several factors, including the fact that this attraction hasn’t operated in over a full year, the refurbishment keeps getting extended, and the fact that guests have reported seeing Peoplemover ride vehicles crashing into one another while the attraction has been testing during park hours.

Unfortunately, Disney has not given any updates about this project, and if there are indeed issues with this attraction, we doubt they’d make a public announcement. In any case, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this project and seeing if there are any signals that this refurbishment could be coming to an end anytime soon.

Of course the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover isn’t the only attraction at the Magic Kingdom currently under refurbishment as the Hall of Presidents and Mad Tea Party attractions at the Magic Kingdom are both currently closed for refurbishment, and the Jungle Cruise is set to close in the near future for a reimagining that should debut before the end of the year.
