Today we have already heard news from Alton Towers and LEGOLAND Windsor that they will both open their theme parks on 12th April. Unsurprisingly, due to the fact that they are all owned by Merlin Entertainments we have now heard news from Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures that they will also open their theme parks for the start of the 2021 season on 12th April.
We heard from UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson in the COVID “roadmap” announcement on Monday that 12th April was to be the first day that theme parks could reopen. This was disappointing news for many eager fans who were hoping to have a Easter break at one of the four top UK theme parks.
It was also confirmed that hotels and B&Bs can not open until 17th May so unfortunately the Hotels and Explorer Glamping at Chessington World of Adventures Resort with remain closed when the theme park opens on the 12th April.
To book tickets, check on the current COVID-19 health and safety measures and to see frequently asked questions if you have already booked for a date when the theme park or hotels are closed, visit the official Chessington World of Adventures website.
Chessington World of Adventures is set to open its new attraction ‘Croc Drop’ which was originally planned for Spring 2020 but had to be postponed due to COVID-19.
This new drop tower will plunge riders 25m and has been in the pipeline for two years. It will be located in the Forbidden Kingdom zone of the park and is set to be a thrilling addition to their lineup. Thorpe Park is also set to open their new attraction which was postponed from 2020 called ‘Black Mirror Labyrinth’. The Labyrinth is boasted to be the World’s first live Black Mirror experience and is promised to have “cutting-edge visual technology and sensory-defying environments”.
