Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Stand-By Wait Times High But Not Unmanageable on First Day

Today was the first day that guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were able to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance using a traditional standby queue since the attraction first opened in 2019. So how did it go? Surprisingly well!

As you might expect, there was a massive flood of people rushing to be the first to get to the ride when the park first opened this morning, driving the wait time up to 180 minutes almost immediately. However, as the initial rush diminished and guests were able to experience the attraction, wait times slowed considerably, falling to 105 minutes by mid-morning and then just 60 minutes by the afternoon.

Though the virtual queue for this attraction is not available, Disney has left the door open to bring it back in the future, saying that boarding groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance are “paused” for now. And though we’d expect to see higher wait times during busier times at Walt Disney World (like the upcoming holiday season), right now looks like a great time to visit the park to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, especially if you’ve struggled to get a boarding pass in the past using the virtual queue system.

It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be available to resort guests who take advantage of the early park entry program at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is set to debut next month. Single attraction skip-the-line Lightning Lane passes will also be available for purchase for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance when Disney Genie+ debuts later this year as well.
