Disneyland has officially reopened as of today, and naturally Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been very popular as guests return to the park after an over 400-day closure. However, those wanting to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will notice that the attraction has been modified to ensure that the attraction is in line with California health protocols, which mandate that all indoor rides last no longer than 15 minutes.
In order to accomplish this, guests visiting this attraction at Disneyland will bypass the pre-show room with Rey and BB-8 proceeding directly to the Resistance ship, where parties will be assigned their own marker to stand on during this part of the experience. In addition, other “dwelling points,” where riders wait or stroll through the attraction have been sped up to ensure that the experience is under 15 minutes total.
Though the “ride” is essentially the same, it looks like guests visiting Disneyland will be experiencing this shortened version of this attraction for the foreseeable future while COVID-19 restrictions are in effects.
Like at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland is using a virtual queue system that gives guests two chances to try and snag a boarding group at either 7:00 AM or 12:00 PM via the Disneyland app. Guests can then proceed to the attraction once their boarding group has been called and they have been notified by the app.
