It has been a long road for Space 220, the high-concept space-themed restaurant at Epcot’s Mission: Space pavilion, which was originally supposed to open in 2019, but was delayed due to construction issues and the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, Disney has confirmed that Space 220 is finally to begin service in mid-September! No information about reservation availability has been shared yet but hopefully more information will be released in the coming weeks as we get closer to Space 220’s grand opening.
Disney has also shared a special inside look at Space 220 that includes a look at the elevator guests will use to “travel” to this new dining location, the dining room, and even some of the “space lettuce” grown in the restaurant.
As you can see, once guests step into the dining room, they will be able to see amazing views of space with intergalactic scenery in the background, including a space station and a friendly astronaut floating nearby. Diners will be waited on by an international crew, and then, once their meal has concluded, will ride the elevator once again to return to Earth from their space dining experience.
This new restaurant will be operated by the Patina Group, which is a name many Disney fans will find familiar, as they operate several restaurants in the World Showcase including Tutto Italia and Via Napoli, as well as Morimoto Asia, The Edison, and Maria and Enzo’s at Disney Springs. Are you excited to check it out when it opens next month?
