UPDATE (January 14) – Construction walls have now gone up around Shrek 4-D and speculation was correct, The Minions are coming…
January 10 – Shrek 4-D opened at Universal Studios Florida in 2003 and as of January 10, 2022 it is now closed permenantly.
There has been much speculation as to what will replace this popular attraction which is located right at the entrance to the park. This week Universal Orlando have posted a number of tweets linking to bananas which are embedded below:

These tweets as well as numerous online rumors seem to be pointing us in the direction of Universal Orlando’s plans to perhap add another Minions themed attraction to take the place of Shrek-4D.
Nothing has been officially confirmed by Universal yet. Minions, however, is one of their most popular IPs and the empty building is situated right next to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem so it would appear to make sense to many for them to develop an attraction which uses the same theme. Will the entrance to the park turn into a mini Minions Land?
There has been speculation that if this space was indeed to be taken over by Minions that it would be an interactive walk through and revolve around Villian-Con, the supervillian convention from the 2015 Minions movie.
Do you think Minions would be a good replacement or do you think Universal should get creative and bring back a classic? Universal can always do with more kid-friendly rides so perhaps this is the perfect fit?
