Shrek 4-D Confirmed to Be Closing Permanently in January 2022

UPDATE: Universal has confirmed that Shrek 4-D will close in 2022 along with the attached gift shop,  but the Meet Shrek and Donkey experience will continue to operate daily.

Shrek 4-D, which has been running at Universal Studios Florida since 2003 may be closing for good early next year. According to a tweet by Universally Driven that appears to share an internal memo posted by another user, the show will be shutting down for good in January 2022 after an 18-year run.

No details about a replacement were immediately shared, but we wouldn’t imagine this theater space near the busy front of the park will be vacant for long if this rumor turns out to be true. It is also unknown if this closure will affect the Donkey’s Photo Finish character meet and greet attraction next to Shrek 4-D

Though Shrek 4-D closed in 2017 at Universal Studios Hollywood to make way for the DreamWorks Theater (which is currently housing Kung fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest), this attraction continues to operate internationally at Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Japan.

Will you miss Shrek 4-D? What would you like to see replace this attraction if it does close next year?
