SeaWorld Orlando To Close Manta and Kraken On Select Low Attendance Days Over Holiday Period

UPDATE – Screamscape has now posted updated information regarding the expected closures of Manta and Kraken saying that they have now been told that Manta will not close this week. Manta and Kraken will be closed on select low-attendance days in order for parts of the tracks to be repainted. Further information regarding exactly which days these will be haven’t been announced.

The remainder of 2021 is set to be very busy for theme parks in Central Florida as as Halloween is nearly upon us, followed by Thanksgiving and then the holiday festivities.

According to Screamscape, SeaWorld Orlando appears to be closing two of their most popular coasters for rehabs over the holiday period which will likely come as a big disappointment to the many fans who are planning to visit.

Firstly Manta is expected to close on October 18 and will remain shuttered for rehab until November 28 meaning that it will be out of action for the very popular Halloween and Thanksgiving weekends.

The classic coaster, Kraken is said to be out of action starting from November 29 for rehab and is not expecting to open again until January 3, 2022 essentially missing the majority of the holiday season. At least on a positive note, these two rides are not due to both be closed at the same time so at least guests visiting for the remainder of the year should get to ride one out of two coasters on their visit.

As well as Manta and Kraken, the Sea Lion & Otter Stadium is due to close for refurbishment on October 18 and is set to reopen on October 28.

With both Manta and Kraken being two of SeaWorld Orlando’s signature coasters, do you think it is a sensible time for them to be closed for rehab?
