Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the one show that Disney has remained quiet about since the theme parks reopened in July 2020 after the closures due to COVID-19 which began in March 2020.
Well, it now looks like the official website page for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid has been deleted and now only reads “Someone Ate the Page!” with a picture of Stitch on it.
This certainly doesn’t look good for all those Disney fans that were still hopeful of a return for this show. The rumor that the Voyage of the Little Mermaid is to close permanently may not come as a big surprise to many people. There was another rumor floated back in April 2020 that the show would never reopen, when it was announced that the Voyage of the Little Mermaid wouldn’t return with the rest of the park.
It was also up in the air whether the Voyage of the Little Mermaid was safe even before COVID-19 hit, especially when plans for Star Wars Land were first coming together.
Some fans thought that Disney may revamp the show like they have done with Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! However, everything seems to be pointing in the direction that the Voyage of the Little Mermaid will not return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But, this has not officially been confirmed yet. Perhaps, Disney is waiting to announce what will replace the show before officially confirming its permanent closure.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid was a spectacular indoor show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios retelling the story of The Little Mermaid live, with Ariel, Flounder, and all their underwater (and land) friends. The story was retold with memorable songs and colorful puppets.
Could an Encanto themed show replace the Voyage of the Little Mermaid? We know there has been a lot of noise about bringing an Encanto themed attraction to Walt Disney World and this location would certainly be ideal to showcase the extremely successful Madrigals!
