There is a rumor being floated online that Disney is planning an update of the Walt Disney World Parks Pass Reservation System which could come into play as early as January 2023. PLEASE NOTE: This is a rumor and has not been confirmed by The Walt Disney Company.
This update would mean that guests with date-based theme park tickets would not need a separate Parks Pass reservation as Disney would be controlling the amount of guests by limiting the amount of ticket sales rather than Park Passes. However, if you are an Annual Passholder then don’t get too excited just yet as the rumor says that Annual Passholders will still need a Park Pass Reservation for the time being.
Within this update, it appears that Park hopping would be available at anytime for regular ticket holders if you have a Park Hopper ticket rather than being from 2pm as it currently stands. Again, Annual Passholders will be able to park hop but it will be restricted to a particular time but likely earlier than 2pm.
This rumored update seems very positive for regular visitors but is likely to leave Annual Passholders still very frustrated. At least it would definitely be a step in the right direction and we assume Disney is undoubtedly looking for a way to ensure they keep Annual Passholders happy so we further expect news on how the Parks Pass Reservation System will change for them too in the near future.
Although it has come to light that Disney has been planning an update to the Parks Pass Reservation System for the last few months we think it comes as too much of a coincident that the week Bob Chapek is fired and Bob Iger is rehired as CEO of The Walt Disney Company that this rumor is aired. It will certainly help Iger’s popularity if this rumor does come to fruition.
