Though much of the infrastructure for the upcoming Harmonious show at EPCOT is installed at the World Showcase Lagoon, it looks like Disney may be preparing to bring back a different nighttime spectacular before they debut their big new show. WDWMagic is reporting that after hours tests have been going on over the past few days that include the soundtrack to the EPCOT Forever show, which may indicate that Disney could be planning to bring this show back in the near future.
Of course Disney has yet to formerly announce the return of any nighttime entertainment, but many are hoping with vaccination rates going up across Central Florida and social distance recommendations for outdoor settings being relaxed that this summer or fall could bring nighttime entertainment back to Walt Disney World. However, it does seem a little strange that Disney would bring back EPCOT Forever, as this show would need to be heavily modified to work around the Harmonious barges that are now in place at the World Showcase Lagoon.
If Disney is indeed planning on bringing back nighttime entertainment later this year, we’d expect an announcement in the near future, potentially as soon as later this week, as Disney will be releasing its most recent financial results, and could be using that as an opportunity to announce any big changes they are planning for the theme parks (which could also include capacity increases as well).
Right now this is of course just a rumor, but with Disney’s return to daytime shows last week seemingly going very well, it looks like the time might just be right for the return of nighttime entertainment as well. You can check out video of the recent EPCOT Forever testing here.
