The use of drones in night-time shows is becoming more and more commonplace. There has been a video shared online by Amusement Insider showing drones being tested at Universal Orlando Resort this week.
Now, whilst there has been no official confirmation that Universal is creating a night-time show which uses drones, it certainly leads us to ask the question, why are they testing them if they aren’t considering using them?
As you can see from the video embedded above, there were shapes such as triangles, human-like figures and a fish. The drones were seen being tested over the Studios side of the resort which seems to suggest that Universal were not testing them to be used in a Hogwarts Castle/ Wizarding World-related “Dark Arts” show as has been rumored in the past. Could Universal be thinking of bringing a drone show to Epic Universe when it opens in 2025?
Many Disney fans have been asking the question for a while why a drone show has not been created for Walt Disney World Resort? Disneyland Paris has just debuted at Walt Disney Studios Park its “Avengers: Power the Night” which includes 500 drones and celebrates all the fan-favorite Super Heroes and combines music, lights, pyrotechnic effects and video projections. The show is set to run through May 8, 2023 as part of the 30th celebrations.
Back in October there was a rumor that drones would replace the barges and feature in the new night-time spectacular to replace Harmonious which is set to debut later this year. This seems to be looking more and more a possibility after the inclusion of 500 drones in the new show at the Disneyland Paris Resort.
We will keep you posted on further news from Universal Orlando Resort about a possible drone night-time spectacular as well as details on the new show to replace Harmonious at EPCOT.
