There has been a new permit filed on May 26 by Walt Disney Imagineering to “install show items” at Blizzard Beach. This implies that there could be a new attraction heading to the park in the near future.
We don’t currently have details of exactly what these “show items” will be but if Walt Disney Imagineering is involved it should be exciting to see what unfolds regarding this permit in the coming weeks and months.
We heard last week that various construction vehicles and wood have arrived at Blizzard Beach to a laydown yard which is situated near to the Downhill Double Dipper, Snow Stormers, and Toboggan Racers on the Purple Slopes and the Runoff Rapids on the Red Slopes for further refurbishment at the park.
Blizzard Beach closed back in January for its annual refurbishment with many expecting it to reopen in March for spring break. This certainly hasn’t happened and there was a rumor as to whether Blizzard Beach will reopen at all in 2022. We certainly know that there is a lot of work going on in the park right now and because of this it doesn’t look like it will be ready to open anytime soon.
With news of this permit, some may speculate this may mean an even longer closure for Blizzard Beach although we know Disney guests will be hoping Blizzard Beach will reopen as soon as possible so they can experience everything the park has to offer in the heat of the Florida summer sun.
