Though we still don’t have an opening target for EPCOT’s new Harmonious nighttime spectacular, last night, the first of five enormous floating platforms was moved into position on World Showcase Lagoon to begin testing of its onboard show equipment. Once completed, these platforms will create a sparkling fountain, providing new energy to World Showcase during the daytime, and at some point when it is safe to do so, these barges will be instrumental to the new Harmonious nighttime spectacular, which is expected to debut at some point next year. Zach Riddley, Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering recently shared the following images on Instagram that include a first look at one of the barges from this show being placed in the World Showcase lagoon:

Once all of the barges for this show are in place, Disney has said that they will be used during the daytime as fountains to offer a special visual feature for guests, and it looks like that may be happening sooner rather than later as Disney works to ready all of the components of this new show for its 2021 debut!
