Late last year on December 7, 2020 all dining in the state of California was ordered to revert back to take-out and delivery only which meant that all Disney-owned restaurants in both Downtown Disney and the Buena Vista Street area of Disney California Adventure closed down fully after operating for several weeks. However, the stay-at-home order for Southern California was lifted as of January 25, which means that establishments in these areas can once again begin operating outdoor dining and snacking.
Though several third party shops and eateries were able to reopen immediately, Disney took its time reopening the Buena Vista Street area of the Disney California Adventure theme park, keeping this area shuttered in the immediate aftermath of the lifting of restrictions. However, as of this Friday, February 5, 2021, the following experiences will once again be available:
- Carthay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining This sit-down experience features Mediterranean-California fare, like tortilla soup with grilled chicken, harissa-roasted lamb and the Carthay shrimp roll. Reservations can be made now at Disneyland’s official website here.
- Award Wieners Serving corn dogs and soft drinks, guests can use mobile order at this location and enjoy their food in an outdoor seating area.
- Smokejumpers Guests can order bacon cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, onion rings, waffle fries, kids’ meals, and vanilla and chocolate shakes, also with mobile order, and can enjoy their meal in a large outdoor seating area that extends to the front of the Soarin’ attraction.
In addition to the reopening of these dining locations, Disneyland has announced that there will be several perks for their “Legacy Passholders” that visit Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street over the next few weeks, including a limited time 30% merchandise discount and a special WandaVision photo op inside Disney California Adventure near the Backlot Premiere Shop.
Though it looks like it is still going to be some time before Disneyland’s theme parks are able to reopen, it’s great that Disneyland is able to offer these limited in-park experiences once again.
