Earlier this week the California government announced very strict reopening guidelines for theme parks in the state, which basically ensured that major theme parks like Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm and more could not return to regular operation at all in 2020. In response to this Universal Studios Hollywood has said that they are thinking about reopening part of their theme park for dining and shopping, and while Disneyland president Ken Potrock was initially cagey about this idea (saying opening part of the parks for just dining and retail is “microscopic compared to opening our parks”) it looks like the resort has changed course, as part of Disney California Adventure will be open starting next month for shopping and dining.
Disney has confirmed that the Buena Vista Street area of Disney California Adventure will be opening select shopping and dining experiences in the next few weeks, including the following:
- Shopping: Guests will have plenty of choices for shopping in this area of the park, including holiday-themed gifts and apparel at stores like Elias & Co., Julius Katz & Sons, and Kingswell Camera Shop, which will all be open daily
- Dining: Several dining locations will be open, including quick service locations like Trolley Treats, Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe, and several vending carts. In addition, several sit-down dining options will be available, including Carthay Circle Lounge, where guests will find an expanded outdoor seating area featuring an all-new menu of cocktails and dining and Smokejumpers Grill which will feature a streamlined menu of burgers, fries, onion rings and craft beer, located just around the corner from Buena Vista Street.
Right now we do not have an exact date for the reopening of this part of Disneyland, with Disney only confirming that this will happen sometime next month.
