UPDATE – Jurassic Park River Adventure was due to reopen today but will remain closed today, January 29 and tomorrow January 30. It is now due to reopen on Monday January 31, 2022.
It is not unusual to see a whole host of refurbishments taking place during the not so busy months of January and February. Anyone now visiting Universal’s Islands of Adventure will be disappointed to find that the classic Jurassic Park River Adventure is now closed.
This is due to a planned refurbishment. The attraction is due to reopen on January 29, 2022. We are likely to see little difference with Jurassic Park River Adventure after its closure as the refurbishment is for yearly maintenance and will address any issues with ride operations.
There has been speculation that we may see Universal doing a larger overhaul of this classic attraction at some point in the future similar to that at Universal Studios Hollywood based on the Jurassic World film (2015). We will keep you up to date on anything that is announced regarding this possible enhancement.
This refurbishment is the first in line for the water rides at Universal’s Islands of Adventure with Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls up next from January 31 until February 25 followed by Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges from February 25 until March 18. With this refurbishment schedule in place it does mean that at least only one attraction will be closed at any one time.
