Disneyland has been very careful with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, rolling out a strict reservation system in this land’s opening weeks so that the attractions, shops, restaurants and more would not be overwhelmed with guests immediately. However, as of this week, this initial reservation system has come to an end, and anyone with a ticket to Disneyland is now able to visit this new land. However, anticipating that demand for this land is still very high one month after it first opened, Disneyland has announced some new rules and regulations for this new land to help ease congestion and keep guests flowing in and out of this land this summer.
New Early-Morning Reservation System Now Live for Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop

One of the biggest surprises we saw from the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge last month was the popularity of both Oga’s Cantina and the build-your-own lightsaber Savi’s Workshop, which both commanded multi-hour waits and exhausted many guests’ reservation times. Disneyland has wisely taken note of this trend, and have now opened a new daily reservation system that allows guests visiting the park to make reservations for both of these experiences on Disneyland’s website or though the official Disneyland app beginning at 7:00 AM each day.
Guests looking to make these reservations will need to have a Disney account, and will also need to be aware of Disney’s no-show fees. For Oga’s Cantina, the no-show fee is a fairly low $10 per person in the guest’s party, but at Savi’s Workshop the no-show fee is a massive $199.99, which is the total cost of that experience. As with other Disney reservations, if you don’t make your reservation time, you forfeit your your credit card is charged and with such high no-show amounts, Disney is basically ensuring that everyone who makes a reservation actually shows up.
Keeping things moving at the Cantina

Though guests might want to hang out at the scenic Oga’s Cantina all day, Disney will be enforcing a very strict policy that will keep guests moving in and out of this popular watering hole. First up, when a guest’s reservation time comes, all guests in their party must have an ID that matches the name on the reservation, and there will be someone verifying names, reservation times, and IDs at the door, which should help cut down on people selling unnamed guest reservations or bringing extra people with them.
Once guests gain entry, they will be given a special card which will be marked with the time they enter, lists the group number and is checked off when drinks are ordered. Disney will be using this system to enforce its two-drinks-per-person and 45-minute time limits inside this location.
Less strict restrictions at Savi’s Workshop

Though the Savi’s Workshop experience is very pricey, if you are willing to fork over the $199 fee (which is due upon entry instead of being charged at the end of the experience), you can partake in this hands-on experience just by yourself, or with two additional people who can watch the lightsaber making experience.These additional guests can be anyone, but there is a hard limit of two additional guests in addition to the person who’s name is on the reservation, so if you are a family of four, you’ll need to pay for two lightsabers in order to get everyone in this experience.
No hotel guest advantage or standby line available

DInterestingly, though Disneyland gave hotel guests an automatic reservation for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during this new land’s opening phase, they are making no such provision for hotel guests to get into Oga’s Cantina or Savi’s Workshop. And in addition, there will be no standby line for either of these experiences either, which means that if you don’t get an early-morning reservation, you simply won’t get in.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will have NO reservation system

Though Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop will require reservations to experience, the only ride in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will remain standby only. Disney has cautioned that they may close the line periodically if crowds get too intense, but guests who want to experience this new ride should be able to with no requirement for a reservation, return time, or anything else, as long as they get to the park early and head straight to this ride.
