Amongst the doom and gloom of delayed and cancelled projects, it is a breath of fresh air to see photo updates from attractions that are full steam ahead with construction. TRON Lightcycle/ Run at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is one of the projects where a lot of progress is being made daily which is amazing to see.
Prior to COVID-19, TRON Lightcycle/ Run was originally planned to open at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in 2021 to celebrate the parks 50th anniversary. With construction work being impacted during lock down a 2022 opening looked more likely. However, construction is now progressing fast so hope is not all lost for a potential 2021 opening of this much anticipated ride.
A detailed construction photo update has been posted this week by thecoasterkings.com which shows loads of photos from different angles giving you a comprehensive look at where the ride currently stands.
The impressive canopy is such a feature of the attraction and the photos show temporary supports that are in place to hold up part of this amazing structure. Due to the sheer size of the canopy much of it is being constructed at ground level and then will be craned into place. Pieces are being put into place each day at a steady rate which is encouraging to see. You really get the scope of the size of the show building which is huge. We assume work inside is also progressing well.
