It was announced back in November 2021 that Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland would be getting a major overhaul in 2022 making it a more “welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways.”
The official reopening date for Mickey’s Toontown was recently confirmed as being March 8, 2023 with the new headlining family-friendly attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening prior to this, to coincide with the start of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder Celebration, on January 27.
CenTOONial Park will be located at the entrance of Mickey’s Toontown and house inside the El CapiTOON Theater, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This new attraction will put you in the wacky and unpredictable cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, where you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. “One magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns that the entire family will enjoy!”
Disneyland has now revealed the logo for this new headlining attraction, this can be seen below. Do you like the design? Do you think it does the ride justice?

At the center of CenTOONial Park, guests will be able to enjoy an interactive fountain which will include water tables for children to play with at its base. We were originally expecting the fountain to come alive in the evening with what we were guessing would be some sort of light show but this has not been currently confirmed.
Another new experience will be the “dreaming tree” which is inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown. It is planned to have sculpted tree roots for children to climb on and explore and will include space for relaxation. There will also be open, grassy play spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard “incorporates a whimsical sound garden where kids will discover new ways to make wacky noises, as well as enjoy an all-new, elevated clubhouse.” There will also be Goofy’s House which will feature a weird and wonderful interactive candy making machine as well as Donald’s Duck Pond which will be a brilliant area for kids to enjoy splashing and meeting the loveable ducklings Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.
Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster is the perfect adventure for smaller kids and fans of Mickey’s Toontown will be pleased to hear that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin will return as well as being able to visit your favorite characters in their homes including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
There will be two new places for guests to purchase food and beverages, Good Boy! Grocers will be a roadside stand offering grab-and-go drinks and treats and Café Daisy is a sidewalk table eatery serving diner classics by none other than Daisy Duck herself.
