We reported on Friday March 18 that there had been a rumor online that Universal Orlando Resort may be considering implementing a park reservation system similar to what has been in place at Walt Disney World Resort since it reopened after the COVID-19 lock downs.
Universal has not made an official announcement on this, the rumor seems to have come from a tweet from an Annual Passholder who had been sent a survey to complete which asked them their thoughts on a potential park reservation system.
We guessed that the comments from the Annual Passholders were unlikely to be anything but negative based on the feedback from Walt Disney World guests when using the Park Reservation System which has been in place for over eighteen months.
We asked you what your thoughts were about Universal considering implementing a park reservation system are here are the results…
The Results
So, it probably won’t come as much of a surprise to find out that in response to the question, do you think Universal Orlando Resort should implement a park reservation system? the results are:
- Yes – 6%
- No – 94%
The park reservation system would help Universal manage capacity and staffing but would clearly be detrimental to guest satisfaction as it has been to majority of Walt Disney World guests. Here are a selection of comments from our readers regarding this issue:
“WHY would they Create those kind of stressful restrictions NOW when COVID is over ? NO!”
“One of the reasons we went there instead of Disney in October was the lack of reservations.”
“Don’t do it. It takes the spontaneous fun out of everything! Let Disney learn from your success. You learn from their failures!”
“I didn’t mind it when I did it at Disney, it’s literally one more click like it’s not that serious.”
“What’s the point of putting a reservation system in. People will switch over to SeaWorld and Busch gardens if they do.”
“No please don’t. We are seeing so much discouraging info about Disney and even with reservations there are insane stand by wait times. What has it proved?”
As we saw from the poll, the overall consensus is for Universal to definitely keep away from any park reservation system because although it can be used to manage capacity, it seems in recent weeks that Walt Disney World couldn’t be more crowded or have longer wait times. As readers have commented, they are really not sure how the system is helping Walt Disney World so guests understandably won’t want it anywhere near Universal Orlando Resort.
As we said in our original article this is a rumor, there hasn’t been any official statement from Universal regarding a potential parks reservation system. We will keep you posted on any further updates that are announced regarding this on our news and Facebook page. If you would like to have your say on this topic please leave us a comment below.
