The time has finally come! As of yesterday face coverings are no longer REQUIRED to be worn anywhere at the Walt Disney World Resort.
This new policy update came after the Transport Security Administration (TSA) made a statement on Monday which reads:
“Due to today’s court ruling, effective immediately, TSA will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment requiring mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs.”
Disney updated the face covering policy for Walt Disney World on their official website. The policy now reads:
“Face coverings are optional for Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations, as well as Disney transportation. It is recommended Guests who are not fully vaccinated continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters and on enclosed transportation.”
Disney is clearly still encouraging those guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue to wear a face covering in all indoor locations and whilst on enclosed transport including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner but there is no official requirement now for anyone to wear a face covering unless they wish to do so.
The big change to this policy update is that guests are no longer required to wear a face covering on enclosed transport. Back in February, the policy was updated meaning all those guests who were fully vaccinated weren’t required to wear a mask in indoor locations as well as outdoors.
Guests did not need to show proof of vaccination status so essentially this was being done on a honesty system so those who were unvaccinated could choose not to wear a face covering and no one would know and they wouldn’t be asked to put one on.
Over at Disneyland Resort, face coverings are strongly recommended indoors but are not required but the policy still reads that:
“Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and older), regardless of vaccination status, in certain indoor settings including Disney shuttles and in health settings, such as in First Aid.”
