It has certainly been a roller coaster of a ride for everyone over the last two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Life as we knew it changed and an ever twisting ‘new normal’ emerged. Numerous measures were put into place to try to keep guests and Cast Members safe inside the parks when they reopened after closures.
Mask mandates have been one of the most controversial measures put into place. We now know that due to reducing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state of California that the indoor mask mandate for vaccinated people will be dropped as of February 15, 2022. Those who are unvaccinated will have to continue to wear masks whilst indoors. California Governor, Gavin Newsom tweeted this:
NEW: CA’s case rate has decreased by 65% since our Omicron peak. Our hospitalizations have stabilized across the state.
Our statewide indoor mask requirement will expire on 2/15.
Unvaccinated people will still need to wear masks indoors.
Get vaccinated. Get boosted.

Individual states will still be able to impose their own mask mandates if they see fit. Fox 11 announced that whilst Orange County will follow this change, L.A County will not lift the indoor mask mandate due to continuing high numbers of cases in the state, as seen in this retweet from Los Angeles County Health Director Barbara Ferrer.
#BREAKING Los Angeles County Health Director Barbara Ferrer says L.A. County will NOT lift its mask mandate on February 15th.
The state is allowing counties to drop their mask mandates on that day if they want to.
Orange County WILL be dropping the mask mandate on Feb. 15th.

As Disneyland Resort resides in Orange County, Disney will have the option to change their mask policy as of February 15 for vaccinated guests in indoor areas, however, nothing has been confirmed by Disney as of yet. Disney is a private company so they can decide on their own rules regarding this.
The Disneyland Resort mask mandate still states that all guests (age of 2 and upwards) require masks indoors regardless of their vaccination status. To see the latest updates visit the official website.
It is certainly positive news that the current Omicron wave appears to be subsiding in many areas of California and with it further relaxing of the mask measures.
Walt Disney World still requires all guests to wear masks regardless of their vaccination status in indoor areas. Keep up to date with the latest measures by visiting the Walt Disney World official site. We will update you with further announcements when they happen on our News and Facebook page.
