Liberty Square Riverboat and Portions of Tom Sawyer Island Reopen at Magic Kingdom

After a four month refurbishment the Liberty Square Riverboat attraction reopened this week at the Magic Kingdom following a complete track replacement in the Rivers of America. Disney recently shared a behind the scenes video that shows how the giant three-story boat was moved from its maintenance area behind the Magic kingdom back to its on-stage dock. Check it out below:

In addition to the reopening of the Liberty Square Riverboat, Tom Sawyer Island has also returned to operation now that the Rivers of America are once again filled with water. Due to physical distancing policies only three parties at a time are allowed on one raft and guests must stand on physical distancing markers, so this attraction could see extended wait times if the park is busy.

In addition, there are certain areas of the attraction that are not accessible (presumably also due to physical distancing requirements). As of right now the playground, barrel bridge and the fort area are completely closed off. Aunt Polly’s is also unavailable, but this restaurant usually only operates during peak crowd days, so that is less of a surprise.

Though it has been a long wait for these attractions, its great that these fan favorites are welcoming guests once again. You can check out more scheduled refurbishments in the works at Walt Disney World here
