UPDATE September 1 – It is time to say a fond farewell to both the ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ and ‘Disneyland Forever’ today. ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ will do its last two runs at 8:30PM and 10:30PM and guests can see ‘Disneyland Forever’ for the last time at 9:30PM.
There has been a rumor that ‘Disneyland Forever’ would be replaced in 2023 and this so far looks to be coming true although nothing has yet been confirmed as to what will indeed replace ‘Disneyland Forever’. However, we do know that Halloween Screams will return starting September 2 through October 31, 2022 at Disneyland Park. Fireworks will be included on select nights, check the My Disney Experience App for exact dates.
Both ‘Fantasmic’ at Disneyland Park and ‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure park will continue so guests will still have plenty of opportunites to enjoy fireworks and light displays from September 1 onwards, when visiting Disneyland Resort.
UPDATE July 14 – Disney has announced that both the ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ And ‘Disneyland Forever’ will end their run on September 1 at Disneyland Park. Both entertainment offerings returned on April 22.
When the ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ came back to Disneyland in the Summer of 2019 it was supposed to be a swan song for the parade. The return of the parade this year to mark it’s 50th year will be the end of the ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ at Disneyland with no current plans for this to return in the future.
‘Disneyland Forever’ first debuted at Disneyland Park in 2015 and ended in 2016. It began its second run in 2019 and then returned in April of 2022 after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted allowing it to resume.
Both ‘Fantasmic’ at Disneyland Park and ‘World of Color’ at Disney California Adventure park will continue so guests will still have plenty of opportunites to enjoy fireworks and light displays from September 1 onwards, when visiting Disneyland Resort.
UPDATE (April 22) – ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ returned early last night ahead of the official reopening tonight at Disneyland. The parade included the new grand finale float to celebrate the parade’s 50th anniversary year with characters from Encanto, The Jungle Book, Raya and the Last Dragon, Aladdin, Coco, Mulan, Brave and The Princess and the Frog.
The first showing of the ‘Main Street Electrical Parade’ wasn’t without a bit of drama as there was a malfunction on the Spinning Turtle float when the door suddenly opened as the turtle was spinning around. The issue was resolved fairly quickly by the cast member closing the door and luckily nobody was hurt. Hopefully the first official showing tonight will go without incident. You can see this incident in the TikTok video here.
