Walt Disney World’s milestone 50th anniversary is only a few months away now, and ahead of the resort’s many planned celebrations, it looks like the iconic Partners statue in the center of the Magic Kingdom will be getting a quick refurbishment ahead of the milestone anniversary in October.
Recent signage placed near the statue note that this refresh will be happening onstage in view of guests as the process of removing oxidation buildup from patinated bronze will be ongoing for the next few weeks. The multi-phase endeavor involves stripping the sculpture to its bare metal before cleaning, reapplying a patina, and coating the entire figure in protective polymer and wax.
In addition to the new attractions, nighhtime spectaculars, entertainment. and limited time celebrations, it is nice to see this iconic part of the Magic Kingdom get spruced up ahead of the big day. You can check out a quick rundown of what to expect from the 50th anniversary celebrations (which will last from 2021 through 2023) in our quick roundup here.
It is unknown how long this refurbishment will last, but with work already underway this refreshed look will certainly be ready in time for the October 1, 2021 anniversary kickoff. Will you be visiting Walt Disney World during its 50th anniversary celebrations? What are you most excited to see?
