On June 29, 2021 an incident occured on the popular wooden coaster, El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure. It happened while El Toro was in motion, the rear wheels of “Car A6 came out of their normal position on the rails”.
Although details were sketchy of when exactly the wheels came out of position it is assumed they had been like it for majority of the ride. The rear wheel assembly as well as steel and wood bolts had been damaged by one of the vehicle’s axles.
Luckily no one was injured during the incident and a detailed track gauge and track steel inspection was undertaken. It was reported earlier this week on Six Flags Great Adventure’s Facebook page that we can expect to see El Toro reopening this Spring.
This iconic wooden coaster has undergone extensive testing, inspections and state certification which should give fans reassurance that everything is in tip top working order ready for the 2022 main season. El Toro has been sorely missed at Six Flags Great Adventure since June 2021.
An exact reopening date hasn’t been officially given as of yet but we will keep you posted when this is announced on our news and Facebook page.
