Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando has reopened after being closed for modifications to the ride vehicle’s safety restraints.
It has been confirmed that the “comfort collars” which were a somewhat contentious feature and proved to be painful for some taller riders, have now been fully removed and replaced with a new seat-belt system that goes around riders waists. These can be seen in the tweet below by Midway Mayhem.
Some riders may dislike the addition of the seatbelt but according to Screamscape, Premier Ride’s trains seatbelts tend to be quite accommodating for larger riders.
Ice Breaker opened at SeaWorld Orlando on February 18, 2022 and blasts guests through four different launches, both backwards and forwards, culminating in a reverse launch into the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida — a 93-foot tall spike with 100-degree angle. Guests must be 48” to ride and must be accompanied if under 54” in height.
As it is still very early days we will see the full reaction to this new seat-belt system over the coming weeks. If it proves popular, we may see it being added to other Premier Rides attractions at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens in the future.
