Sesame Place which is located in San Diego, California is now allowing guests to have close contact with characters in their Character Meet and Greet sessions including giving hugs.
It has been a very long road for theme parks to be able to return to ‘normal’ pre-pandemic Character Meet and Greets and it at least looks like Sesame Place has now got there.
Since Walt Disney World reopened after the COVID-19 closures, Disney put in place a number of cavalcades and character sightings so guests could see their favorite characters but they have not been able to have close contact due to health and safety measures and social distancing.
We heard at the beginning of March that Character Meet and Greets would return to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort soon but no exact was given.
A recent tweet which is embedded below, from March 23, informed us that normal Character Meet and Greets at Disneyland Paris will resume from April 1, 2022. These will include guests being able to have close contact with the characters including hugging.

With the news that Sesame Place Park in California has reinstated close contact Character Meet and Greets and with Disneyland Paris doing the same beginning April 1, surely Disney will make an announcement soon on when the much missed Character Meet and Greets will return to both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World.
