Hersheypark Removes Mask Requirement For Vaccinated Guests

Yesterday the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people can stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and inside in most situations and it looks like Hersheypark in Pennsylvania has become the first theme park to completely drop the mask requirement in all park areas for vaccinated people, both indoors and outdoors. At this time, the park is still requiring guests who are not vaccinated (including those who are 12 and under) to wear masks, but no specific plans to check vaccination status have been announced, with the park essentially using an “honor” system, trusting guests who are not vaccinated yet to continue masking.

In addition to the removal of the face mask requirement, Hersheypark has also announced that they will also not be requiring social distancing from guests who are vaccinated as well. You can check out Hersheypark’s full statement about the changes coming to the park on their official Twitter account here

Right now Hersheypark is operating on a seasonal schedule and is only open Fridays through Sundays but will open daily over Memorial Day weekend. New this year will be Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, the Chocolatier Restaurant, and the Sweetery Confectionary Kitchen, which should help guests visiting this sweet park satisfy their cravings!

Do you think other theme parks will be dropping their face mask requirements in the near future for vaccinated guests? What do you think about the park’s use of a trust-based system when it comes to vaccination status?
