Disney provided a first look this week at the ride vehicles that will be used in the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction now under construction at EPCOT. This attraction is very far along in development, with construction on this first-of-its kind roller coaster continuing at the park, potentially in preparation for a 2021 or 2022 debut. You can check out the official photo of the ride vehicles below:
One thing you might notice about these vehicles is that each one has a unique paint job with different wear patterns and impact marks. Imagineers were inspired by markings that appear on NASA Space Shuttles and other spacecraft upon reentry into Earth’s atmosphere to try and create the sci-fi inspired look of these vehicles.
As previously announced, these new ride vehicles feature a new innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering that allows them to rotate 360 degrees so guests can focus attention on the action and story of the ride. This ride will also feature a reverse launch, which is a first for a Disney coaster!
You can read more about what to expect from this attraction here, when Disney officially revealed the first details about this new attraction back in 2019.
