Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Entering “Final Stages” at EPCOT

Guests looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction will be pleased to learn that this upcoming attraction is entering its “final phases” of development according to an Instagram post from Imagineer Zach Ridley.

Disney hasn’t announced an official opening date for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and while the attraction was originally set to debut in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration this fall, with work nearly completed, perhaps this attraction will open sometime during the 18-month-long celebration.

Disney has developed a new ride system for this attraction that will feature elevated roller coaster trains that conceal track underneath, and can also move independently, spinning around 360 degrees to face screens or set pieces, similar to the roller coaster trains used by Universal’s Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts attraction. Another feature will be a backwards launch – a first for a Disney coaster.

When completed, this stunning new addition to EPCOT will also be one of the longest indoor coasters in the world. You can learn more about this exciting new ride here
