Fingerprint Scanners Returning Soon to Walt Disney World

Disney's Magic Kingdom, entrance

It looks like another COVID-19 pandemic policy is being rolled back at Walt Disney World as guests this morning visiting Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park were asked to scan their fingerprints for the first time since March 2020. According to reports, this is a preliminary test before the mandatory biometric finger scanning is reimplemented across the theme parks early next week.

Though Disney had previously experimented with face-scanning software as a potential touchless replacement for the fingerprint scan, it looks like these tests either didn’t score well with guests or were too costly to implement, as the fingerprint scans will be back in the near future.

This re-implementation of fingerprint scanning comes amid Walt Disney World’s increasing rollback of masking at the theme parks and reopening of buffet-style dining at several locations around the resort

How do you feel about the return of mandatory fingerprint scanning at the front of Walt Disney World resort theme parks? Are there other COVID-19 related changes you think Walt Disney World will be making in the near future?
