UPDATE: Disney Parks Blog has shared that a reimagined Finding Nemo: The Musical show, based on the same beloved characters, will debut in 2022. This updated show will feature new story material, as well as fan-favorite songs such as “In the Big Blue World” and “Go with the Flow.”
Though it has been rumored for over a year, it looks like several Cast Members are reporting on social media that they have been informed that Finding Nemo: The Musical, will not be returning to the Theater in the Wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. According to posters on the WDWMagic forums, the email confirming the news to Cast Members indicated “a new show is in the works”.
Though this is certainly unfortunate news for fans of the show, many doubted the future of this show, when Disney brought back Festival of the Lion King earlier this year, but kept Finding Nemo: The Musical dark.
Other shows that are still dark around the resort include Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, and Fantasmic!.
No information has been released about this closure via Walt Disney World’s official channels, and their website continues to list this show as “Temporarily unavailable”. However, with Cast Member notifications going out today, we’ll likely see this status change in the near future.
