Slow internet and lagging often frequent any Walt Disney World guests experience of the internet during their visit to the resort. Well, there could be good news on the way as a permit was filed on May 4, for ‘Fiber Optic Expansion Phase 1’ which could improve the current internet considerably.
Disney has not yet officially confirmed any details regarding this permit or how it may impact guests experience at Walt Disney World but it definitely seems to be a step in the right direction.
It states on the permit that the expiration date will be one year from being filed which in this case will make it May 4, 2023 unless an extension is agreed. We are therefore hoping to see work commencing on this fiber optic expansion phase soon.
Currently guests are required to be online using their smartphones for majority of the planning services whilst at Walt Disney World through the My Disney Experience app for booking dining reservations, MagicMobile, and the Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane system.
Having a fast and reliable internet connection whilst at Walt Disney World is imperative and this is an area where the resort has often fallen down. Have you experienced poor internet connection?
