Starting next week on June 15, Walt Disney World has announced face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in most areas of the theme parks and resorts including in shops, restaurants, and on rides. The only place face coverings will still be required for all guests will be on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and the Disney Skyliner. However, they will not be required on boats and ferries.
While Disney will not require proof of vaccination, they expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, as well as when entering and throughout all attractions and transportation. It has also been announced that face shields are no longer required for Walt Disney World Cast Members in any position.
This follows similar moves from Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando, both of which do not require vaccinated guests to wear masks at all in the theme parks.
As of right now, masks are still required at all times for California theme parks, including Disneyland Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott’s Berry Farm. However, as vaccination rates continue to improve, it seems like only a matter of time before restrictions are eased at these West Coast theme parks as well.
