UPDATE October 27 – Guests staying in a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa or at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve and Shades of Green® on Walt Disney World®, have had the opportunity to enjoy Extended Evening Hours on select dates during 2022 and although it was thought that this perk would end when the 50th Anniversary celebrations finish on March 31, 2023 it has now been confirmed on the Walt Disney World website that Extended Evening Hours will continue throughout 2023.
The current dates and times for the upcoming Extended Evening Hours at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be seen in the table on the official website as well as a list of available attractions. Further dates for 2023 are promised and will be added to this chart in the near future.
For many guests, staying in a Deluxe Resort will not be an option and this perk has been criticised by many Disney fans for being overly divisive as it was available to all Walt Disney World Resort guests prior to the change.
For Deluxe Resort guests it is a very good perk and for all other Resort guests it is yet another reminder of what once was and now is no more. Do you agree with Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe Resort guests? Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
April 11 – Back in January 2021 when the new “Early Entry” Program was announced, we learnt that Extended Evening hours would no longer be able to be enjoyed by all resort guests.
Extended Evening Hours only apply to those guests staying in a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa or at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve and Shades of Green® on Walt Disney World®
The Extended Evening Hours have previously only been available at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT since December 2021. We heard back in January that Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be added to the schedule beginning on Wednesday April 13, 2022.
The time is here, the week has arrived! Deluxe Resort guests will be able to stay in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for an extra two hours from 9:00pm-11:00pm on Wednesday (April 13, 2022). We are waiting to see which other dates will be added to the calendar in the coming weeks. Check out the official schedule here to see all Extended Evening hours that are currently available.
Restricting Extended Evening Hours to Deluxe Resort guests has been a contentious issue and for many this has felt like an un-Disney change and something which goes against the original ethos set out by Walt.
However, with park closures due to COVID-19, Disney appears to be implementing any strategy it can to increase revenue and this certainly appears to be one of the ways to encourage guests to spend more.
