Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon To Reopen March 19, Blizzard Beach To CLOSE AGAIN For Refurbishment!

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon closed on November 13, to begin its annual refurbishment just as the long-shuttered Blizzard Beach reopened to guests. Initially we were given a March 12 opening date for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and a high expectation that Disney’s Blizzard Beach would remain open.

However, Disney has now confirmed on the official website that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will actually reopen on March 19, 2023.  Blizzard Beach will continue to operate until the end of March 18 and then will close again for further refurbishment. This is sure to come as very disappointing and frustrating news to Disney fans who were hoping the reopening of Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon would finally mean that for the first time in about three years both Disney water parks would be open again at the same time.

So far, Disney has not commented on the length of the scheduled closure for Disney’s Blizzard Beach and when it is planned to reopen. Disney fans are inevitably hoping that they will indeed see both Disney water parks open together again at some point over the summer months.

Disney’s confirmed plan of closing Blizzard Beach again when Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon opens seems to follow a concept which was rumored a few months ago of Disney alternating the two water parks. We guess the reasoning behind this is to cut costs and save money. Or, this refurbishment could turn out to be a very short one. We will update you on further details when they are announced.

It was confirmed that the Disney H2O Glow After Hours event at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will resume on select dates from May 20 to September 2:

    • May 20 and 27
    • June 3, 10, 17 and 24
    • July 1, 3, 8, 15, 22, 29 and 31
    • August 5, 12, 19 and 26
    • September 2

Tickets for the Disney H2O Glow after Hours event can be booked from March 3, at $75 plus tax (adult) and $70 plus tax (child ages 3-9).
